Dear 9 to 5
We need to talk. About brand, thinking, design and work.
Dear 9 to 5
You had a good run. Routine, structure. A desk with your name on it.
Clock-ins, coffee breaks and the quiet theatre of looking busy. You were built for factories, filing cabinets and fax machines.
We’re building something a little different now, something better suited to founder-led brands
Dear 9 to 5 is where I write about the curious things sitting underneath brand strategy and design. The thinking, the patterns, and the occasional uncomfortable truth.
Because brands shouldn’t just look good.
They should hold their own.
P.S. Some earlier letters come from the days when ko&co was also a coworking hub. They’re part of our brand story.

Coworking isn’t about Kombucha. It’s about connection and work.
Somewhere between the bowling alleys and discount wars, coworking lost its way.
It was never meant to be about perks — it was about people.
When marketing chases noise, brands lose meaning. And when coworking becomes a real estate play, it forgets what made people care in the first place.
At ko&co, we’re bringing the brand, and the belonging back.
Clarity. Creativity. Community.
Built for small businesses who want to work and belong, not just book a desk.

Anchor in: why one desk can change everything.
What if the thing your business really needs isn’t better WiFi or more flexibility… but one desk?
That’s how Anchor was born at ko&co. Not from a business plan, but from a conversation over wine with my best gal and first member, Monika.
She said, “I’d work better if I had a desk that was mine.”
And in that moment I realised: she wasn’t asking for furniture. She was asking to be anchored. To have rhythm. To belong.
That single nudge changed what ko&co has become.

ko&co wasn’t built for everyone. It was built for someone.
Before you build your brand, you need to know who you’re building it for. In this founder’s musing, I unpack how clarity, empathy mapping, and real audience insight shaped ko&co workhub. I didn’t start with logos, colours, or coworking trends, I started with people. And built a brand for humans, not generic segments.

Dear 9 to 5, we need to talk: why my home office wasn’t enough anymore.
Once upon a time, working from home was a luxury.

Marketing for leads versus marketing for brand?
Marketing that builds leads is not the same as marketing that builds a brand. One drives action. The other builds trust, authority, and staying power. In my first founder musing, I unpack the difference, and why we need both (just not always at the same time).

The shift: why ko&co workhub isn’t just another coworking space
This wasn’t a rebrand. It was a recalibration. The moment ko&co shifted from coworking space to a brand-led workhub – complete with full brand and marketing support – for small businesses and solopreneurs who are done doing it all alone.

Dear 9 to 5, we need to talk.
Dear 9 to 5, we need to talk. You were built for fax machines. We’re building for freedom. This is the start of something different. Read the manifesto.

Better workdays, better headspace
Coworking doesn’t just change your schedule—it can change your headspace. From loneliness and blurred boundaries to focus, flow, and genuine connection, here’s why the right workplace can do more than help you tick things off your list.

Sips, snacks, and the launch of something special at ko&co workhub
On launch night, our little coworking space in South Melbourne turned into something big: a full house of solopreneurs, creatives, supporters and friends.
All gathered to celebrate ko&co workhub’s beginning. There were no speeches (okay, just one), just sips, snacks, and a whole lot of soul.
Here’s how it all came to life, and why it matters.

Even when I’m not feeling it: Why showing up still matters.
Some days the motivation just isn’t there. But even on those slow mornings, something shifts the moment I arrive at ko&co workhub. Here’s why showing up, especially when you’re not feeling it—can change everything.

When working from home starts to feel like a trap: Coworking could be your way out.
